Privacy
Hyperhoods has no accounts, no cookies and no ads, and sells nothing about you. It counts plays anonymously to make the game better. This page lists everything the site and the game send, and where.

Anonymous play counts
The game counts plays with PostHog (servers in the United States). It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device for this, so every visit is a separate, anonymous session with a random ID that ends when you close the page. It sends:
- that the page opened (and whether the link pointed at a spot), and when you press Play (with how long the game took to get ready);
- when the area around you has loaded: the load time, the graphics level and the name of your graphics chip;
- a summary when you leave or switch tabs: seconds played and driven, how many times you went to a place through search or the map, how many routes you started, the frame rate, the graphics level, and roughly where you played, rounded to about 11 km (a city, not a street);
- if the game fails to start or hits an error, the error message (at most three per visit);
-
what any website sees: browser, operating system, screen size, whether it has a touchscreen, the page you came from, and the page
address without its location (campaign tags such as
utm_sourceare kept).
PostHog is set not to keep IP addresses, and these events are never tied to a name, an email or an account.
Visits
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits (which pages, where visitors came from, country). It uses no cookies or storage and does not identify visitors.
Starting near you
To start the game near you, the site asks Cloudflare, which hosts it, for its estimate of your city from your IP address. Only the city's coordinates go back to your browser; nothing about it is stored or logged by us. The game then keeps your current spot in the address bar, so a reload brings you back. If you share that link, it shares the spot; the play counts above never include it.
Map servers
The world is built in your browser from map data it downloads as you move. Like any website you load, these servers receive your IP address and which part of the map was requested, under their own privacy policies:
- OpenFreeMap: the map tiles for the world and the large map, and the large map's lettering.
- Microsoft Planetary Computer: extra building outlines where the map has few (Settings → More buildings turns this off).
- Nominatim of the OpenStreetMap Foundation: only when you submit a search, it receives what you typed.
On your device
The game keeps your settings (graphics, map filters, More buildings) and a cache of map tiles in your browser's storage, so it starts faster next time. They never leave your device; clearing the site's data in your browser removes them.
Hosting
Cloudflare serves every page and file. Like any host, it handles your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
Your choices
Because nothing is tied to you, there is no profile to look up or delete. A content blocker can stop the play counts and the game still works. When Hyperhoods adds sign-in, this page will say exactly what changes before it launches.
