FAQ
Is Hyperhoods free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, with no download and no account.
Can I play in my own city?
Yes, anywhere on Earth. The game starts near you, or you can search any place and go there. The world is built from OpenStreetMap, so each street is as detailed as the map is there: big cities are rich, small towns can be simpler.
Does it work on phones?
Yes, in landscape, with touch controls. A laptop or desktop gives the smoothest play.
What do I need to play?
A recent browser with WebGL2: Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
Is there multiplayer or missions?
Not yet. Today Hyperhoods is free exploration on foot and by car.
Where does the map come from?
From OpenStreetMap, the free map of the world made by millions of volunteers, served as OpenFreeMap tiles. Extra building outlines come from Microsoft Building Footprints where the map is sparse, and place names from GeoNames.
Does Hyperhoods track me?
It counts plays anonymously (how long, on which devices, roughly which city). No cookies, no accounts.
